Commitments and Expectations

Our Mission Statement: John Marshall Fundamental Secondary School is dedicated to the principle of academic excellence. Our school's long tradition of commitment to the pursuit of excellence in learning, and to the unwavering support of the development of each child's fullest potential, continues as we prepare all students for the challenges of the 21st century.
Student Commitments:
Our students, with support of our school staff and parents, will meet or exceed academic grade standards. Each Marshall student also commits to the following:
- To respect all staff and students on campus at all times
- To attend school each day and be on time
- To bring a notebook, pencil, pen & textbooks daily
- To utilize the Student Planner for each class, every day
- To complete all homework and classroom assignments
- To participate in all class work and class activities
- To maintain, at a minimum, a "C" grade in all subjects
- To listen and follow directions given by adults at all times
- To keep our campus clean and attractive
- To carry a student ID card at all times
- To have a valid emergency pass to be out of class during instructional time. (Passes will be given to students only in an emergency during instructional time.)
Faculty and Staff Commitments:
Our faculty and staff will:
- Encourage and provide opportunities to all students to meet the standards set by our District and State
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of PUSD and our school
- Promote and supervise a suitable learning environment
- Communicate with students, parents and other personnel in a timely, professional and effective manner.
Parent/Guardian Commitments:
Our parents/guardians agree to:
- Ensure that their child will attend school regularly and be on time
- Encourage, monitor, and assist (if possible) with their child's homework on a regular basis
- Review their child's Student Planner each week, thereby demonstrating involvement in maintaining their child's good grades
- Maintain current school information regarding address, home and work phone numbers, and emergency contacts
- Communicate with teachers on a regular basis their concerns regarding their students attendance and academic growth.
- Become actively involved in school activities, PTSA, and other school functions, time permitting.
